Landscaping & fences

Postby kmiec on Tue Jul 08, 2008 12:45 pm

When we moved in during the Spring of '06 we were required to have landscaping installed & a white picket fence around the perimeter of the property before we would be issued clearance to rent out our smaller coach house. On Childers, there are several cottages with no landscaping & or no fences.

This is an eye sore & a detriment to attracting renters. Weeds are running rampant. Why are the original rules not being enforced & why are these cottages allowed to rent without compliance? We went through an extensive check list from Beachwalk Rentals prior to approval.

Also, I have noticed several carloads of people who are not residents of BW using the area as their parking lot. In fact, there was an ad in the Beacher a while back for a home sale in the community near Bergy's which stated something to the effect that the home had easy beach access via the Beachwalk short cut!

I think we are private property & should consider how to prevent this. Maybe our association could provide all owners & renters with a vehicle tag. Owners could also provide their personal (non paying ) guests with a car tag. Same for vendors & workers, etc.

Any vehicles without tags could then be towed.

BW is such a unique community. How can we better enforce these & other issues to maintain the quality of life there that we so dearly pay for?

Thanks,

I totally agree with Debbie. Childers Lane, south of Thomas Blvd. is especially messy. It is discouraging to those of us who work hard to keep our properties looking nice. The weeds have taken over some developed lots. We are all here to enjoy the beach lifestyle and don't want to spend our time weeding, but a little here and there can work wonders....and a couple of inches of mulch can keep weeds at bay as well as keeping the sand outside!
